What is Semantic MediaWiki

Semantic MediaWiki (SMW) is an extension to MediaWiki that adds the ability to store and query structured data within wiki pages. This transforms a standard wiki into a semantic wiki in which information can be organized, retrieved, and visualized. For example, you can annotate a page about a project with details like start date, status, and team members, then query the wiki to list all active projects from a specific year.

SMW's value lies in its combination of wiki collaboration and structured data management. It supports complex queries, dynamic report generation, and data export via the Semantic Web, making it versatile for various organizational needs. SMW is free and open source, and is used by thousands of organizations around the world. View SMW testimonials.
